Good For Kansas Boaters, Good for Kansas
The proposed amendment to change the way watercraft is taxed in Kansas is a win, win if you vote yes. Currently watercraft is taxed at “other” tax rate of 30%. Since this rate is considerably higher than watercraft tax in other states, boat owners are registering their boats in other states. This costs Kansas tax revenues and inconveniences Kansas boat owners. Voting Yes on this amendment in November will change the definition of Watercraft to be included in regular personal property tax, a lower, more reasonable boat tax rate.
